So it's one week from the finale! Each contestant will sing two tonight - one judges' choice and one contestant choice.
Danny's judges' choice is "Dance Little Sister" by Terence Trent D'Arby, picked by Paula. Wow! Much better stage presence for Danny this week! I'm impressed so far! Overall the judges were too. Apparently, they don't want Danny to dance and just stand there and be boring. Whatever Kara and Simon!
Kris is up next with "Apologize" by One Republic picked by Randy and Kara. Hmm, good performance. Not straying far from the original, I don't think. Let's see what the judges say. Someone's going to say he's playing it safe.
Ha, Simon!! Way to tell Kara! I was thinking the same thing - she picked the song and then tell him he should've done something different.
That means Simon picked Adam's song - we'll see what he chose after the break!
Looks like he's singing "One" by U2!! I'll have to defer to Chris on this one for any comparisons. Chris, who states he was born to hate anyone else doing U2 songs, says that wasn't bad, other than a little screamy. I definitely liked the performance!! And yes, Simon's gloating ... a LOT! I'm just happy to see Chris not cringing over on the other couch!
Break time for commercial and Idol Gives Back.
Danny's up next with his own choice - "Your are so Beautiful" by Joe Cocker.
First thought - boring. I hope he opens up and let's us really here him later in the song! Good performance. Not great. But as Randy said, he *can* sing!
Kris will be singing "Heartless" by Kanye West. I don't know the original at all, but so far, I'm going to assume he's making it his own. I really liked it! I don't want to know the original!! Kris should definitely be in the finale!!
Adam will finish off the night with Aerosmith's "Cryin'". Love Aerosmith, almost-loved that performance. He's still screaming. Of course he did a great job.
Well, I have some voting to do to make sure my fave (who is NOT Adam) makes it through.

Oh yeah, so my vote's for Kris. I'm sure Adam will get through. Danny just doesn't personalize the songs enough and, for the most part, all sound the same.

Oh good, it's working now. I couldn't post when I clicked through from the Facebook link, but then I tried going directly to the blog from my blog, and it works now. Anyway...Hi! We're on, but a little behind.
I did NOT like Danny's song. The song choice was just not good for me.
Those judges are so locked into their final two (Adam and Danny) that I'm afraid they won't criticize either of those two.

Kris did an excellent job with Apologize. He mixed it up just a tiny bit, but he's killing it! I liked it a lot. I think he's better than Danny and deserves to be in the final two.

Was it really necessary to waste time showing them receiving the text message in their hometowns? Do we really care?
Adam did good. I see they saved the funky lighting for him again. It was still creechy but it didn't seem as over-the-top screechy as he normally is. It doesn't sound like the original so he did well in that area. I liked it. Chuck was just okay (he really doesn't like any amount of screechiness).
Ok...I'm obviously behind.
Danny's first song...meh....not impressed. Not a good song...but I suppose he did alright with what he had to work with. I don't understand what Kara was talking about...he was dancing...and he has rhythm...what's the big deal? Was he supposed to stand still? I swear...I dislike her more and more each week.
Danny - still not liking him tonight. I don't think he has the skills the other two do. The ending was good. We just think it was okay overall...not spectacular.

Kris singing Kanye West. Didn't expect that...and I LOVE LOVE LOVED that! Kris really is the master of artistic license on these songs. That was amazing!

I think Adam is SO FAR AHEAD that the other two are just not standing out at all. They can do a great job and STILL not stand out.

Adam singing Aerosmith...shocker! I don't like the background singers on this. They seemed slightly off and like they were trying to sing over him a little? I can still do without his screeching though. It hurts my ears. Why doesn't it bother me when Steven Tyler does it?

Heartless was REALLY good. Kanye did it with the synthesizer and I thought it was just goofy sounding. The way Kris did it...was pretty cool! I have to say..I'm VERY impressed!

Not to mention...Adam's second performance wasn't quite up to par.
